Dr Archer praises 'closer to home' rehab unit
Dr Mary Archer visited the £900,000 rehabilitation unit currently being built at Saffron Walden Community Hospital  recently. The chairman of Addenbrooke's NHS Trust was also guest of honour at a fundraising lunch at Saffron Walden Golf Club which raised £1,500 for The Friends Rehab Appeal.

During her tour of the hospital Dr Archer met staff and matron Julie Shearsby. She inspected work on the unit which will include physiotherapy, occupational, speech and language therapies and a gymnasium.

At the golf club lunch, Dr Archer spoke about the essential role of community hospitals such as Saffron Walden. "Addenbrooke's has close links with Saffron Walden Community Hospital, running several specialist clinics that mean local people can receive the right treatment close to home," she said.
